Lion Capitol

TUESDAY EVENING PRAYER CALL! 9PM EST. Conference call number: 805-399-1200 access code 552-690. Use *6 to mute/unmute. Invite your friends to join us!

What a phenomenal experience last night. Thank you for taking time at the last minute to pray for our government! Ninety-one callers total joined together to intercede for our nation, seemingly held captive by a wall of political divisiveness. A Throne Room declaration emerged—tear down that wall!

As Senate chaplain Barry Black recently prayed, “Lord save us from the madness. Deliver us from the hypocrisy of attempting to sound reasonable while being unreasonable.”

Your 2014 Voter Guide
So today, I thought I’d help the cause. Below is your very own 2014 voters guide. We will show you exactly who to vote for in each state, how to discover your candidate’s stand on key issues, and how to move America forward.

We the people elected the President, the leaders of the Senate and House, the Senators and Congresspeople whose partisan pride and power grabs have imperiled not just the Nation, but to an extent the whole world. So lets cut through the confusion and lay down the primary principles by which we should evaluate leadership.

As the bullets started flying during the first volley of the Revolution, John Adams and John Hancock famously declared, “No King but Jesus!” They were declaring that no dictator, no one person or party, would ever again have the right to determine the course of our nation. And that only those who embrace Christ’s model of servant leadership are worthy of our governmental seats.

No King but Jesus. Behold, O great populace, the key to your 2014 voters guide.

Do your elected leaders express the nature and character of Jesus Christ? Or are they using their power and authority for their own gain, at the Nation’s expense?Remember, as a governmental leader Jesus divested the riches of His life to fully invest in yours. He did not spend what He did not have to purchase your loyalty; instead, He laid down His own life to redeem our lives, even when we appreciated His gift the least.

Government is God?
Today many of your elected leaders want to convince you that Government is God. Government—in other words, your elected leaders—will provide for you, heal you, protect you, brand you, tell you what to read and write, define your morality. Even watch over you, as recent revelations convey.

They in turn apparently believe they can claim you as their own.

But friends, Government is not funding this Great Commission even with taxpayer money alone, but by borrowing funds from the nations. Our debt is being invested to prop up the American government to extend towards a role never designed for her. That of being God.

I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed, but the Lord of hosts doesn’t tolerate idolatry too well. Like Bruce Almighty, any entity claiming godlike powers will eventually topple—if for no other reason than from assuming the weight of responsibility that comes with the role.

Another way to say this is that pride comes before a fall (Proverbs 16:18).

Our Greatest Risk
Back in my college years, I worked for the Ohio University Post. A very simple philosophical discourse was written on the walls of the newspaper’s photo room. It went something like this.

“God is dead”—Nietzsche.

“Nietzsche is dead”—God.

I’m not sure how long we can openly violate clear biblical principles regarding the stewardship of morality, of finances, of governance and still expect God’s covenant blessing and favor to remain on the land. But the moment we prop up Government as God, claiming the sovereignty of the Almighty and the title deed to the people He alone owns—that is the moment Government is destined to topple. Actually for its own good.

And if history is any indication of the future, it’s usually the very leaders entrusted with the thrones of governance who become deceived into catalyzing its demise.

What remains? Either way, no King but Jesus. Like the vast majority of hard-working Americans, I greatly desire and pray that our Nation and government be preserved, and remain “a city on a hill, and a light to the nations.” But for this to occur, many of our leaders, Democrat and Republican, need to re-orient themselves to reality. They are not God, nor have they been entrusted with dictatorial powers by the American people.

Lest you be confused, government can be good, but government is definitely not God. And God alone has the right to claim ownership of your life. “No Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus!”

Vision—the Restraining Hand Appeared
During the prayer call last night I had a brief but sobering vision. I saw a ghastly, pale hand pressing towards a pot of gold. All was dark except the gold. As we continued praying, I saw a restraining hand appear and push the ghastly hand away from this pot of gold.

Many are going ahead in their pride, pushing America to the brink in their relentless pursuit of their own will. They are attempting to grab “absolute power” while they perceive they can.

But I believe a Restraining Hand has appeared. It is perhaps similar to the hand that appeared in the midst of Belshazzar’s feast of power. This hand might even be conveying a similar verdict—that many have been weighed in the balance, and found wanting.

Meanwhile, I really believe in the validity of a word the Lord conveyed to us late last year. Holy Spirit clearly spoke that in 2013 true prophetic statesmen will arise. Leaders from both parties with the humility to “be made strong by that which every joint supplies” (Eph. 4:16), and the resolve to actually do what’s best for the American people.

Friends, if you’re out there, now’s your time to arise and shine. Only please rehearse the handwriting on the wall—no King but Jesus.
