DEAR LAMPLIGHTER FAMILY,
“I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to root out, tear down, throw down, destroy, to build and plant” (Jeremiah 1:10).

Blessings to each of you this January 10. I was working on a project this afternoon when the Lord gave me a sudden, Spirit-breathed revelation.

It was 1-10.

I’d like to say that time stood still, the digital clock flashed ten times, and an angel appeared with a fiery scepter to stretch over Washington DC. Instead Holy Spirit simply touched me and I suddenly had a very clear “knowing” that wasn’t there before. Does that make sense? Jeremiah 1:10 was highlighted to me. There’s a sovereign “setting” going on. Thrones of authority are being established by the Lord of hosts. Many are being promoted into a new season of grace and authority.

Like Gideon and his army.

As the graphic above conveys, I feel we are in a Gideon season where the Lord desires to supernaturally rout His enemies before us. The torch and trumpet became weapons of choice. Mount Gilboa—pictured in the graphic behind the White House—suddenly lit up with fire. A midnight cry was sounded. And the enemies seeking to take over suddenly turned on themselves.

The Lord drew me unexpectedly to Gideon while writing our new book “The Midnight Cry.” More on that in a moment. During Revolution, registration for the conference was exactly 300. A few people would cancel, and exactly that same number would sign up within hours. Jolene said, “Gideon’s 300!

To my surprise, Jamie Fitt ministered on Gideon during Revolution 2017. It was one of the most powerful messages of the conference. Then just before the new year, the Lord spoke to Jolene in the middle of the night. “Amass the troops.” I sensed immediately the Lord was speaking about a Gideon army to launch into the new year.

Which is the reason for the graphic.

As in the days of Gideon and Jeremiah, there is a divine “setting” going on. I sense that even tonight, angelic reinforcements are being dispatched to back up the army of God. That’s great news. The Angel of the Lord and Gideon!

Below is an excerpt from the Midnight Cry, Chapter 8, “The Midnight Riders…” Looking forward to praying tonight!

The Angel of the Lord and Gideon—from “Midnight Cry”
After the Angel of the Lord vacated the land, He did not show up again for an entire generation. But eventually there was a re-emergence. He was dispatched in response to the sincere cries of God’s people as they were being overcome, marginalized, subjugated and abused within their own covenant boundaries.

The Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon with a signal in the night. Time for turnaround. This Angel was dispatched to literally pick up right where he left offrestoring homeland security and securing Israel’s covenant boundaries. By the way, in America this is exactly where we are right now. God is recruiting His midnight riders, His Gideons, to partner with Him and complete the turnaround that has been initially released. I cannot emphasize enough that the same God who is encouraging us is also evaluating us. Will we advance in Him or return to a cycle of idolatry which will mandate the Angel’s departure?

“Then the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the oak that was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite as his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press in order to save it from the Midianites. The Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “The Lord is with you, O valiant warrior… The Lord looked at him and said, “Go in this your strength and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?”

What a commission. The same angel who partnered with Moses to rescue God’s people from Egypt to the Promised Land, the same angel who partnered with Joshua to possess the land, was now inviting Gideon into the sacred partnership. And they together were about to re-possess the land.

Only one thing stood in the way. Turns out that Gideon’s dad was one of the original settlers who completely disobeyed the Lord by building on his land an altar to Baal and Ashtoreh. The open defiance of Gideon’s father in erecting his sacred pillar was a primary reason the Angel of the Lord vacated the land in the first place.

Not a coincidence the Lord’s first assignment to Gideon was to tear this thing down. Fulfilling the original call given to the people of God to “break their sacred pillars in pieces,” and opening the door for the Angel of the Lord to return and move in God’s covenant land.

Lets put it another way. Gideon’s obedience to “divorce Baal” and restore covenant with the Lord were mandated by God to satisfy the standards of Heaven’s Court. On a personal level, he dealt with the generational idolatry in his bloodline. On a corporate level, the repudiation of his father’s idolatry secured for Gideon the covenantal authority to deliver the entire nation.

Until this covenant restoration the Angel of the Lord was forbidden to even move through the land. But Gideon’s obedience opened the way for the Angel of the Lord to deliver Israel again. The Angel of the Lord and Gideon, reporting for duty!

Further, Gideon’s actions not only prepared him for military victory, they actually prepared his land for military victory. The land mourns when defiled by man’s sin and disobedience. The ground itself rejoices when repentance brings cleansing, and the glory of God again moves upon it.

The perceptive will see the message of the Maccabees within this story. Separation and rededication can launch a new beginning.

Special Ops Mission—Light the Lamps!
Gideon soon overcame Israel’s fiercest enemies with a small band of special ops warriors. In fact Gideon’s example has become the prototype of many special ops communities today. Sometimes small teams of highly trained, highly competent warriors are more effective than mighty armies.

Gideon’s warriors came to the battle line fully armed. With swords, of course. But also a vast arsenal of secret weapons only special ops warriors are capable of handling. Fiercest ever seen in the earth. They stop the enemy right in his tracks.

I’m talking about lamps, of course. Burning lamps.

And at midnight, a cry was heard. Gideon’s warriors all became Lamplighters. They lit their lamps and held them high. And at the speed of light the enemy was supernaturally defeated. Further, a revolution was started, a freedom movement that restored the Promised Land to God’s covenant people.

Lamplighters. Midnight cry. I hope you don’t miss the parallel. Or the potential.
