DEAR FRIENDS,
I WASN’T PLANNING ON being on tonight’s call. Our anniversary is Friday. A little downtime was in the works. But in the past hour, we have been literally swarmed by texts and emails about a looming crisis TONIGHT. 

Tonight the Republican House is in crisis mode, meeting over a really bad deal on short-term government funding. Republicans are threatening to shut down the government over it, and even remove Speaker Mike Johnson. 

Two elements have enraged Republicans. Pork and Pardons. The allocations in the bill are truly almost ridiculous. They are being pushed even as the Dow spirals down in its longest losing streak since 1978. And if that weren’t enough, anger over President Biden’s astonishing pardons have only stoked the fire.

As a dedicated intercessor for the Speaker, tonight I’m supporting Mike Johnson while also promoting the pushback. Here’s my logic. Could it be that Speaker Johnson negotiated a deal with Dems that is beyond ridiculous on purpose? Maybe to actually justify Republican pushback? Remember the majority is by a razor’s edge. Republican refusal of deal at this time actually would give him much greater leverage with the Democrats. 

And as the pork and pardons become exposed through media, the shutdown would likely be blamed on the Democrats.

In a relentless chess game, I think Speaker Johnson saw a few moves ahead. If so the Democrats were actually foolish to push their harmful agenda of selfish spending, pork and pardons, especially at such a delicate time economically. They stand to lose BIG with the American people. 

Please remember we wrestle not against flesh and blood (Eph. 6). And the Lord can take what forces of darkness meant for evil and turn it for good. 

That said, we need to pray. Help Lord! Lets connect tonight. If possible Jolene and I will be onsite on Capitol Hill to intercede with you. 

No King but Jesus…
