DEAR TURNAROUND AGENTS,
Agents of turnaround. What a great title for a prophetic mystery novel. That would make you a key character in God’s script. If you’re like me, you probably want to read the book backwards to make sure you made it through ok. Trust me, I’ve already tried this, and it doesn’t work. Neither does speculation. At least when God’s the author. He stacks entire generations of future history in the Bible, yet each moment somehow still comes as a surprise.
And believe me, we’ll have lots of surprises this year.
All that said, welcome to Turnaround Tuesday. It’s hard to believe that, including today, we have only 44 Tuesdays left until Election Day 2018. That fact alone is worth our urgent dedication in prayer. And remember, ultimately the Lord desires for us to have 20-20 vision. Which means we have 148 “Turnaround Tuesdays” left until the next presidential election.
Better start praying.
Speaking of surprises… You might have heard Hollywood is pushing Oprah Winfrey to make a run for the presidency. I freaked out at the New York Times headline for this story. Would you believe it was “2020 Vision!”
Oprah made an amazing speech at the Golden Globes. Gentle wisdom and fierce conviction inspired not only an industry, but a nation to continue standing against the betrayal of sexual abuse, subjugation and prejudice. Oprah’s message was all the more authentic and poignant because of her own journey overcoming sexual abuse, subjugation, prejudice and brokenness.
But would she make a good president? Probably, yes. Donald Trump seems to believe so. In 1999, Trump told Larry King that Oprah Winfrey would be his first pick for Vice President if he were running. “I’ll tell you, she’s really a great woman,” Trump told King. “She’s a terrific woman. She’s somebody that’s very special. If she’d do it she’d be fantastic.”
He reiterated this thought in 2015, by the way, as he was preparing for a run for president. Those who still accuse Donald Trump of systemic prejudice might not have factored into their equation that for 16 years straight, his stated preference for a presidential running mate had actually been Oprah Winfrey.
But whether Oprah would make a good president or not is absolutely NOT THE POINT of either her message or the message Hollywood needs to take to heart.
As I was praying about Oprah and Hollywood this morning, the Holy Spirit broke in with key revelation I want to share with you today to bring this clarification. I sensed the Lord clearly saying, “How dare Hollywood turn a mission of conviction into a political power play!”
And I saw for the first time how an industry which lost influence after Obama sought to pervert God’s clear message against the toleration of longstanding, systemic abuse simply to recover their political leverage.
Hollywood—how dare you.
Until the exposure of Harvey Weinstein, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner was being celebrated by women and men as a “founding father” of Hollywood. A pioneer who shifted culture away from the distorted repression of Judeo-Christian morality.
Be yourself. Be free. Indulge.
Completely ignored was his “pioneering” message of misogyny and the subjugation of women through extreme sexualization and even abuse. Somehow the women and men celebrating Hefner also forgot the extraordinary pain inflicted on children whose parents succumbed to a new culture of covenant-breaking and divorce. The legitimization of pornography soon became a superhighway leading to the grossest defilement of human dignity, including even child trafficking.
The pivot point for this societal spiral can literally be traced back to the “pioneering” efforts of Hugh Hefner.
And if I may be so bold… it’s not a coincidence that Hefner died just as this year’s expression of the Glory Train entered into metropolitan Los Angeles this fall. At the outset of the Glory Train journey, Jolene prophesied of those involved in systemic betrayal and abuse. The Lord simply told her that “They will fall in the fall.”
Remember, Jolene and I were clearly directed by the Lord to receive communion at every stop of the Glory Train from Virginia Beach to Hollywood and San Diego. Honoring God’s covenant and also handing the bread over to the systemic betrayers so they would begin to be exposed—literally by the hand of the Lord.
In the spiritual realm, the occult covering of Hollywood’s systemic sexual abuse began to unravel immediately after Hefner’s passing. God’s covenant prevailed. Isaiah 28 declares how the covenant with death and hell is annulled, and therefore the demonic powers activated through these covenants will no longer be allowed to cover over abuse and corruption. A good friend of mine in Hollywood alluded to this when the Lord made him a promise years ago that when Hefner was removed, the exposure would begin.
It came to pass.
And this is the message that Hollywood must hear right now. It is time to end the abusive reign of debased sexuality and occult empowerment which has so long defined it from the shadows. Enough is enough.
And political renewal won’t save you, nor will your allegiance to a particular political party—which, if you haven’t noticed, IS ABSOLUTELY STEEPED in the same abuse you say you are now standing against.
Hollywood you want a president but YOU NEED A SAVIOR.
It’s interesting how God builds on His work from year to year. I shared with you last year’s Glory Train journey to Hollywood. But the year before, on the first Glory Train journey, the Holy Spirit first began to speak to me about His move to confront Hollywood’s tolerated abuse.
Below is the vision, as recorded in our posting on June 28, 2016. Note that I had the vision June 26, 2016, while preparing to minister at Radiance International in Hollywood with our friends Jonathan and Sharon Ngai.
Vision—“What Have You Done to My Child?”
Ministering in Hollywood Sunday was an honor, but it was quite intense spiritually. While praying I had a vision. I saw what looked to be a framed vertical painting hanging on a wall. The frame and wall were both light gray, almost white.
And the painting was actually a window to the Throne! The Lord Jesus Christ stood before me, dressed in a white robe, His countenance marked by fierce intention. His hands were placed protectively around the face of a young boy with blond hair and blue eyes. I saw that this young child, probably 5 or 6, looked angry, confused and ashamed.
Then the Lord leaned forward over this child, seemingly out of the picture frame. His fierce eyes flickered through me and far beyond me at the same time. Like He was looking through every hidden wall of Hollywood, and all of the Nation, all at once.
He then spoke. Thundered. Confronted, like a fiercely protective father who was about to take down an abuser. “What have you done with My child?”
The vision was so brief—almost a flicker—that I initially dismissed it as a byproduct of my imagination. A subtle rolling thought in visual form. It was Hollywood after all.
Hollywood
Hollywood, a national and global seat of media. Throughout the morning yesterday as I prayed, this vision kept coming back to me. I saw how Jesus’ hands were tenderly cradling the head of this child. As if to protect him from the evil that could shape his mind and access his heart.
I recalled Hollywood landmarks pointed out to me by Pastor Jonathan. A legendary club that actually spread death metal across the nation. Just down from the epicenter of the LGBT movement. Across the street was the dilapidated Hustler Club, recently shut down and now thankfully sold.
Jonathan and Sharon shared with us that their own prayer center was once used as a production studio for pornography. How profound is Christ’s redemption in the land! I am so grateful for their work.
Ultimate Justice
That said, all yesterday morning the phrase kept rolling through my spirit. “What have you done to my child?” I felt just a little of the immense grief and anger felt by our Father when any of His children, whatever age, are unjustly treated or abused.
Each person on this planet is ultimately a child of God. And He is the author of ultimate justice. Abusers and sell-outs might evade man’s justice on this earth, but you cannot evade the justice of God. Your well-guarded status will by no means protect you from either the heart of God’s justice or the reach of His discipline. Jesus warned:
And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
“Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes!
“If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire. If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell…” (Luke 18:1-8).
The Unveiling of God’s Glory
“What have you done to my child?” Though praying for mercy from LA to DC, I knew the Lord was about to confront the abuse both within this “City of Angels” and the “District of Christ” in a significant way. As Jolene likes to put it, unmistakably Jesus.
Lamplighter family, you might wonder what this has to do with the Glory Train. Everything. We have emphasized from the beginning that the Glory Train is a freedom movement which confronts injustice.
You know, when a train rolls down the tracks you can feel the rumbling in the earth. That’s how it is with God’s glory train too. Isaiah saw it in the days of governmental upheaval pictured in Isaiah 6. God’s glory was unveiled to the prophet, and “the thresholds shook at the voice of him who cried.”
What’s the lesson here? The unveiling of God’s glory cannot be separated from the execution of His justice. They are one and the same. And across the nation, His unstoppable glory train is truly on the move.
