A joke from President Obama stood out to me almost as a prophecy. At the White House Correspondents Dinner, he chided Rep. Michele Bachmann by suggesting that he could accompany her to one of her “book burnings.”

Something about this stuck with me. So… welcome to the Burning Scrolls Prayer Project! As we move towards Pentecost, I feel that God is releasing His own “burning books”–scrolls of fire directly from the heart of God. “Is not my word like fire?” The Lord thundered to Jeremiah (Jer. 23:29).

Now through May 14, which is Pentecost, lets press in to see God’s holy fire released. Lets also keep watch against the enemy’s unholy fire from Iran, North Korea, and potential terrorists on our own soil.

We are in a season of justice. Pentecost, or Shavuot in Hebrew, first commemorates the dramatic moment when God manifested His fire to Moses on Mt. Sinai. On this day, He burned His law into stone tablets and entrusted His law, the Ten Commandments, to humanity.

On the anniversary of this release, God manifested His wind and fire again–this time to Jesus’ disciples in the upper room. The precious blood of Jesus had been presented before the Father’s Throne, atoning for humanity’s rebellion against His law. Suddenly a mighty rushing wind filled the whole house. The very glory of God was restored to His land and people!

So lets watch together for His holy fire to fall, and for His “burning scrolls” to be released personally and corporately. Covenant blessings to each of you! Jon & Jolene
