HAPPY THANKSGIVING! This evening we launch the Midnight Shining Prayer Project, through Christmas and Hanukkah. Beloved, it’s your time to shine!
Lets take a moment to remember the legacy of our forefathers who, during this season of shining, encountered God and embraced the freedom movements of their generation.
Maccabees and the Light of the World
The Maccabees relit the menorah in the Temple to restore covenant with God, and thereby restore their desolate heritage. Hanukkah commemorates this legacy. What a prototype for our day!
The witness of the Maccabees is so precious to the Lord that He even chose to bring forth the Savior of mankind during the holy days. The angel Gabriel prophesied a visitation of Holy Spirit to a young virgin named Miriam.”The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.”
According to Messianic Jewish scholars, Jesus, the Light of the World, was conceived over Hanukkah! He came to bring deliverance to those held captive. The Light shined in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. Through Christ’s redemption all mankind may now be free!
The Pilgrims Prophesied—and Forged a Nation in Freedom
Remember the Pilgrims, who established covenant with the Lord to forge a freedom nation. The Jews of Europe called them “the People of the Covenant” because they followed the legacy of the Jewish forefathers to establish, as Asher Intrater noted, “a new Israel, a nation wholly covenanted to God.” Inspired by our Jewish forefathers, the Pilgrims hosted the first Thanksgiving after the pattern of the Feast of Tabernacles.
Did you know the Pilgrims also prophesied? History records many prophetic surges from the meetinghouse of Plimoth Plantation. Because covenant unlocks prophetic vision. A really good point to remember as we shine our way into 2020!
Further, they forged our nation in freedom. Like most immigrants, the Pilgrims were fleeing religious persecution when they came to the new world. Their covenant reflected their ultimate resolve to establish this land in freedom, as a beach-head against antichrist dictatorship. Both their covenant and the resolve fueling this freedom fire have been passed on from generation to generation ever since.
Torchbearers of American History
From the Pilgrims came the awakeners, who spread the fire of holy conviction throughout the 13 colonies. From the awakeners came the revolutionaries. From the revolutionaries came a new breed of awakeners—ardent abolitionists in the second great awakening, prophets of the underground railroad who refused to settle until freedom was secured for all. From the abolitionists came suffragists, evangelists of holiness, and firebrands of Pentecost.
Even as prayer and revival consumed entire continents, a resurgence of antichrist dictatorships drove the world into two horrific world wars. That’s when the Greatest Generation stepped in to retake the strongholds of freedom for the entirety of western civilization. LET MY PEOPLE GO.
From the warriors of the Greatest Generation came the freedom peacemakers of the Greatest Generation who took the quest for freedom from continents to their own backyards. Cashing the check written to all Americans, based upon the Declaration of our forefathers that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL.
The Greatest Generation even carried this freedom torch through to the downfall of communism. They tore down walls and filled stadiums in revival. YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
From their cry new movements of worship, prayer and spiritual warfare were thrust upon the entire earth to secure for Jesus the reward of His suffering. The prophetic movement sprang forth. And the torch of the Pilgrims was passed on.
Now it’s Your Time to Shine
Now, as we approach 2020 with antichrist alliances again seeking to overwhelm nations and cultures, we are at a similar point of decision to that which our forefathers faced. How we need 2020 vision! Here’s a guarantee. The freedom movement of our hour will be no less costly, nor in the end any less glorious.
Our forefathers were Pilgrims and prophets and spiritual revolutionaries who set the world on a new course for freedom. This Thanksgiving let their word—and even more their legacies—prophesy to your spirit. Pilgrims and revolutionaries, it’s now your time to perpetuate freedom, in the spirit and in the natural, just the way Jesus ordained.
