DEAR MIDNIGHT WATCHMEN,
TURNAROUND TUESDAY—thank you for decreeing and contending! I’m a little late in posting because of a very busy schedule today. But I wanted to get this out to you. Tonight we are starting a new prayer project that will extend through two incredible months. Three weeks from now America votes. One of the most hotly contested elections is the governorship in my home state of Virginia. We need breakthrough! I feel to engage with the Lord in a mostly private expression of prayer and fasting through this time.
And of course, December 2nd marks the date the Supreme Court hears the landmark Mississippi abortion case, which experts in law say could even overturn Roe v Wade.
Further, Congress acted to extend the deadline for acting on America’s bursting debt ceiling until early December, around the time of the Supreme Court hearing. The threat of a government shutdown right around Christmas is very real.
Then immediately following we are hosting Revolution 2021! Again at Remnant Church in Brunswick Georgia with host pastors Jamie and Redonnia Jackson. We will have a big announcement on this very, very soon!
So the need for covering prayer is very real. But why start tonight? So glad you asked. Over Yom Kippur in Jacksonville we saw the Lord bring a reconstitution of the Huguenot Covenant. Remember the Huguenots established an apostolic community in what is now Jacksonville 50 years before the Pilgrims. But whereas the Pilgrims survived, the Huguenots were martyred by Spanish conquistadores.
October 12 marks the date of their martyrdom. When Jean Ribault took his final breath of life chanting Psalm 132, begging God that this land would be a dwelling place for the Mighty God of Jacob.
We honor this historic day of covenant! Thank you Sue Ekenberg and Lauren Main for reminding me that today’s the date. It’s only appropriate to choose today to enter into this same expression of covenant that the Huguenots lived for, and gave their lives to attain.
Remember how the Lord conveyed to us as a community to “Call 911” over Yom Kippur. To devote ourselves to restoring the covenant covering over our homes and nation. This is vital for your turnaround!
So lets take these next two months and focus our lives and prayers towards this end.
Below is Psalm 132 for you to read through and pray. This translation is from the Complete Jewish Bible. I hope you find its promise as amazing as we do. God has prepared a lamp for His anointed! No King but Jesus…
Adonai, remember in David’s favor
all the hardships he endured,
how he swore to Adonai,
vowed to the Mighty One of Ya’akov,
“I will not enter the house where I live
or get into my bed,
I will not allow myself to sleep
or even close my eyes,
until I find a place for Adonai,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Ya’akov.”
We heard about it in Efrat,
we found it in the Fields of Ya’ar.
Let’s go into his dwelling
and prostrate ourselves at his footstool.
Go up, Adonai, to your resting-place,
you and the ark through which you give strength.
May your cohanim be clothed with righteousness;
may those loyal to you shout for joy.
For the sake of your servant David,
don’t turn away the face of your anointed one.
Adonai swore an oath to David,
an oath he will not break:
“One of the sons from your own body
I will set on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant
and my instruction, which I will teach them,
then their descendants too, forever,
will sit on your throne.”
For Adonai has chosen Tziyon,
he has wanted it as his home.
“This is my resting-place forever,
I will live here because I so much want to.
I will bless it with plenty of meat,
I will give its poor their fill of food.
Its cohanim I will clothe with salvation,
and its faithful will shout for joy.
I will make a king sprout there from David’s line
and prepare a lamp for my anointed one.
His enemies I will clothe with shame,
but on him there will be a shining crown.”
