DEAR VIGILANT INTERCESSORS,
“IT IS BY MIRACLE, BY DIVINE INTERVENTION, HE WAS NOT KILLED!” In a moment forever marking US history, yet another shot was heard ‘round the world on Saturday, this one fired against former president Donald Trump. As former sniper and GOP congressman Cory Mills observed in a CNN interview, it was a miracle we are not mourning his death. As authors of White House Watchmen who have mobilized prayer against assassination attempts over many years, all we can say is thank you Jesus!
Instead of dying, with his fist raised and a vow to fight from the moment he was shot, former President Trump has once again flipped the script. Turnaround. As mentioned, with a little help from on High.
President Trump will address the nation from the RNC convention today to announce his choice for Vice President. Please pray for his safety and strength. In the aftermath of the assassination attempt, the Republican Party now stands united. Many analysts are now saying a second term for Trump is virtually inevitable. As Peggy Noonan observed, “You don’t give America an image like that and go on to lose, you give America an image like that and it enters political mythology forever.”
Trump’s Biggest Danger Right Now? Saturday Dream
I almost don’t want to say it. But prophetically, Trump has just entered the most dangerous phase of his life. Because by now Trump’s opposition has realized there’s truly no stopping him except for an assassination attempt that is successful. Or, a seductive leveraging that allows the movement to be co-opted.
Early Saturday morning, on the day of the shooting, the Lord gave me a dream. Jolene and I, along with Ed Watts, Jamie Fitt, and Chris Mitchell, were leading a very large Israel tour. We were on our final day of the tour itself, and were preparing for the group’s departure the next day.
Suddenly two pastors in the tour group turned on us. One pastor was an oversized muscle man and he immediately threatened violence. The other pastor was a beautiful woman who had already seduced a few in the group during the tour. She ascended a podium and began a “church service,” all the while projecting her allure.
From this dream I knew the Lord was warning against two compromised leaders—Violence and Seduction—seeking to overtake our tour, which represents God’s movement in our midst.
And it’s not a coincidence that just hours later, sudden violence nearly took President Trump’s life.
So let me give you a bona fide word of the Lord. We have seen the Lord counter violence and turn it for good. Now we must keep watch against all forms of seduction seeking to co-opt the movement! We need ramped-up watchman intercession at this time. You and I must heed the call.
Be Equipped to Pray!

Sightlines and Perimeters—White House Watchmen
In the former sniper’s interview, Rep. Cory Mills also was clear that “There was a breach of security” with the Secret Service. The biggest mistake the Secret Service made on Saturday was not fully securing their perimeter. We wrote:
“When Secret Service agents are deployed, their most important job is to secure the perimeter for the President. Doors, elevators, windows, walls, garages, kitchens, bathrooms, closets, ventilation shafts, floors above and below, airspace—every point of potential access must be evaluated and guarded. Including sightlines. Because to protect from snipers, all points of access by which an accurate shot could be fired must be considered, even from a mile away. Then there’s the crowds. Establishing gates for entering and exiting are essential. So are metal detectors at these gates…”
“Securing a perimeter is an essential first step for securing the President’s safety. It is essential for the nation’s safety, as noted by the President. And it’s essential for yours. Further, whether keeping watch for a government leader or for your pastor or your family, securing a perimeter in the spirit realm is as essential as the work of Secret Service agents in the natural.”
In the book we compared the work of Secret Service agents to watchmen in prayer who are assigned to pray for Trump.
“The operative goal of the US Secret Service is to prevent an incident before it occurs. Please hear me in this. In the spirit this is a primary mission of a White House watchman as well, keeping in mind that we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers (Eph. 6). Your best day is when an enemy attack is averted or mitigated through your efforts to the extent that the gates of sabotage are shut, and those targeted are barely affected if at all.”
Obviously Saturday actually proved to be a good day. Before the whole world the Lord Himself answered prayer, protecting Trump beyond the scope of what our nation’s best could provide.
