DEAR WATCHMEN ON THE RAMPARTS,
OCTOBER 7, 2023 IS ISRAEL’S 9-11. Where were you when you first received news of the attacks? I’ll never forget the details. Jolene and I, along with Ed Watts and Jamie Fitt, were being hosted by friends Amy and David Black at their ranch in Abilene. We had all converged for a special Feast of Tabernacles gathering. Little did we know it would soon launch us into an unceasing prayer meeting to this day. 

Blow the Shofar
Jolene and I awakened before dawn and were stunned to see depictions of horrific atrocities in the news. Israel was now at war. My first instinct was to go outside to walk and pray. I soon discovered that our host, Amy, was already praying in her makeshift succat or tent that she crafted for Tabernacles. 

Amy suggested I blow the shofar. Blow the trumpet in Zion! Through tears, I made my best attempt. And it forever marked me. The video of the shofar sounding became part of our Turnaround Tuesday broadcasts ever since. 

Later in the morning our service turned into tears and prayer for Israel. As with 9-11-01 we knew a line had been crossed, and the world would never be the same. 

Prophetic Warnings Leading to War
It was no surprise to us that Israel was now at war. Almost a year beforehand, on December 9, 2022, Jolene and I were praying on Tel Megiddo when she saw a vision of a grandfather clock at 10 minutes to midnight. She immediately knew that both Israel and America were entering a midnight hour. 

Ten minutes to midnight. It was exactly ten months later almost to the day that Israel was attacked by Hamas. And by proxy, by Iran. The head of the snake. 

During our Spirit of Elijah Tour with Jamie and Ed, the prophetic sense that Israel was about to go to war was palpable. We decided to return for a special “7-22 Turnaround” gathering in Jerusalem. First to warn Israel of the coming war. Second to declare that what began with Hell’s verdict would culminate with Heaven’s verdict on their behalf. The Daniel 7:22 judgement in favor of the covenant nation, restraining the beast and releasing the saints to possess the Kingdom.

But the warning was the most important focus. We prayed. We warned about how internal divisions were making the Covenant Land vulnerable. 

7-22 and October 7—Terrifying Convergence
Please reflect on this with me for a moment. The God of Israel alerted us about the October 7 war, which basically continues to this day. He then compelled us to return to His covenant land to sound the alarm. On 7-22. 

During worship in our October 7 service in Abilene, I expressed a lingering sense that this somber date would prove to be as consequential for Israel as September 11 has been for America. And the world.

Ed caught my eye and and summoned me over. October 7 on the Gregorian calendar was the seventh month, 22nd day on the Hebrew religious calendar. October 7 was actually 7-22. 

Keeping Vigilant Watch (to this day)
Since that date we have kept watch over Israel and America through tears. Praying for the hostages. Praying for victories in war. Praying for a cleansing and healing from the severe trauma inflicted on every citizen of Israel. 

And praying against the vociferous onslaught of antisemitic dogma which overtook the entire western world after October 7. 

Our vigil, of course, has carried through until today. On all fronts.
And our initial insight that October 7 was Israel’s 9-11 has proven hauntingly true. As we approach September 11, 2026 the Lamplighter family is on the watchman ramparts once again for both Israel and America. Something’s up. And it’s bigger than we know.
