DEAR MIDNIGHT AWAKENERS,
“SO WHICH IS IT HAMILL—revival or government?”
“Both.”
“Right, but can you really pioneer both? How can you give yourself to both? They’re so far away from each other.”
“It’s in the Bible.”
Conversations like this, or variants of them, have been repeated countless times since we moved to Washington DC. And especially since we embarked on the Glory Train in 2016. OK like, so you pray for turnaround in government, and you pray for the restoration of God’s glory. There’s no intersection between the two, is there?
Yes, in fact there is.
Sign—Revival Birthed on 2-22
I don’t think it was any coincidence that the Brunswick Baptism Revival—what we affectionately call the Midnight Mikvah—was birthed on 2-22 of this year. It is a date of weighty prophetic significance. Not only was George Washington born on this date—he would have been 287 if only he had lived—but the date itself prophesies of a radical expression of Kingdom authority.
You seasoned ones guessed it. Isaiah 22:22. The Key of David. Revival and government.
The Regime Change Chapter
Isaiah 22 portrays regime change in God’s highest order. A man named Shebna was ruling over the dynasty for the king of Judah. He was essentially the king’s treasurer. Steward of the resources of his empire.
Shebna had a very bad habit of promoting his own greatness while at the same time fleecing God’s covenant people for his own selfish gain. Kind of like Venezuela’s Maduro, or Syria’s Assad. He refused to humble himself in a day of national repentance as his people faced an existential threat. Instead he was busy building a statue to his own greatness.
And God dropped the hammer.
“Therefore in that day the Lord God of hosts called you to weeping, to wailing, to shaving the head and to wearing sackcloth. Instead, there is gaiety and gladness, killing of cattle and slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die.”
“But the Lord of hosts revealed Himself to me,“Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven you until you die,” says the Lord God of hosts” (Isaiah 22:12-14).
The next verse—Go to Shebna and depose him.
Father to the Nation
A man named Eliakim was summoned to take Shebna’s place on the mountain top. Here’s what scriptures say about him.
“Then it will come about in that day, that I will summon My servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and I will clothe him with your tunic and tie your sash securely about him.
“I will entrust him with your authority, and he will become a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah” (Isaiah 22:20-21).
Where Shebna devoured the sheep for selfish gain while building memorials to his own greatness, Eliakim was prophesied to exemplify Kingdom governance. He will be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the house of Judah. He will mentor his people. He will enrich them and protect their welfare and blessing.
Scripture emphasizes that Eliakim is the son of Hilkiah. The young ruler will mentor from the wholeness that comes from being effectively mentored or fathered. Maybe it’s not a coincidence that the name “Hilkiah” means “God of Inheritance” or “God of Allotment.”
God of Awakening
And the name Eliakim? “God of Awakening” or “God of Arising.”
You’re quick on the draw today. Eliakim. NOW THEREFORE ARISE.
So Eliakim, God of awakening, was given the keys of authority over both the treasury and more importantly the legacy, of the House of David. That’s what Isaiah 22:22 is all about:
“Then I will set the key of the house of David on his shoulder, when he opens no one will shut, when he shuts no one will open. “I will drive him like a peg in a firm place, and he will become a throne of glory to his father’s house” (Isaiah 22:22).
God wants your throne to become a throne of glory! He wants to rest on the throne over your sphere of authority and manifest His goodness through you to His people. Many are being summoned today as Eliakims of this hour. The Lord Himself is entrusting the key of David to them.
Revival and Government
And yes, friends. The keys of governance were granted to a man literally named the God of awakening. Conveying that revival and governmental authority are, in His eyes at least, concurrent expressions of the same move.
And guess what? We are experiencing concurrent expressions of this same move right now.
And that’s really good. Because it’s going to take a move of God—with these concurrent expressions in full force—to dislodge the magnitude of evil that has tried to claim our land.
God wants you to be His Eliakim. Yesterday we shared on the summons to the summit. The key to truly ascending the summit and conquering the mountain of your sphere is actually the most unlikely pathway in the world’s eyes. Pick up your cross and follow Jesus. Ruling in the eyes of this King means spending yourself on behalf of the betterment of your constituents instead of fleecing them for your own personal gain at their expense. It means being a great father or a mother to them. Bringing genuine relationship, justice with integrity, and empowering them to succeed.
No cross, no crown.
That’s the true Eliakim key. And I prophesy to you, to those who follow this pathway up the mountain, the keys of governmental authority are now being granted at this time. The God of awakening is establishing thrones of glory. NO KING BUT JESUS!
