DEAR COVENANT WATCHMEN,
PLEASE KEEP WATCH! At 11am ET today, President Trump is meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and diplomatic teams to discuss the rollout of the Mideast Peace Plan. Netanyahu’s election rival Benny Gantz is also meeting for the discussions. Details of the plan will either be announced today or with the next few days.
The plan represents years of investment by the Trump Administration in close collaboration with Israel and members of the Palestinian community, as well as Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other nations of the region.
From the beginning of his presidency, Trump has promised new, fresh approaches to Israel, the Mideast and the world. To me this is the essence of the “Trump Doctrine” both here and abroad. And it was best articulated by Trump himself when he officially honored Jerusalem as capitol of Israel.
“When I came into office,” Trump intoned, “I promised to look at the world’s challenges with open eyes and very fresh thinking. We cannot solve our problems by making the same failed assumptions and repeating the same failed strategies of the past. Old challenges demand new approaches!”
With this at heart, many pioneering programs are being proposed to bring practical solutions and relief which will serve to de-escalate the conflict.
And the fact that this plan is being rolled out on International Holocaust Remembrance Day is of huge symbolic importance. It should be very favorable to Israel. But it is guaranteed to be empowering to the Palestinians as well. Huge economic development plans are already underway to foster collaboration between Jews and Palestinians, pioneered by our ministry friend Heather Johnson and others. Mutually beneficial projects empowering all to take responsibility for peace, with tangible rewards for making right decisions.
Dividing the Land?
Many leaders, ourselves included, are concerned about the potential that dividing the land of Israel will be included. The Bible is clear not to divide either the land or the city of Jerusalem. Further, as a practical working model the Gaza Strip, disengaged from Israel in 2005, has proven disastrous. Instead of fostering peace, freedom and prosperity for all, the Strip became a beach-head for radical Islamist terrorists to wage war against Israel.
Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. This cannot happen again.
From what I’ve read and heard there will be no division of Jerusalem proposed in the Trump peace plan. Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria—what the western world refers to as the West Bank—will not only be retained but granted Israeli sovereignty. The sovereignty of Israel over the entirety of the land will be retained in regards to security.
All of this of course is simply speculation right now until the plans are officially announced.
What to Pray?
The peace plan could easily become a flashpoint for war. And that is regardless of what is offered. Incendiary devices have been released and rockets fired from Gaza against Israel, allegedly in response to the plan even before it rolls out. Further, the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq was struck by rockets yesterday, allegedly for the same reason. And neighboring Jordan has been signaling displeasure over the plan for months now.
Here are four prayer points.
- Pray God’s shalom. For Israel, the Palestinians, the Mideast.
- Pray that the Lord utilize the peace process in all its facets to further establish His Isaiah 19 highway.
- Declare the continued restraining of the Prince of Persia and this force’s incendiary influence throughout the region.
- In that regard declare Haman restrained, and the Esthers, Mordecais and Daniels in covenant with Christ advanced in a way that advances God’s kingdom to the benefit of governments—not only in Israel but throughout the entire Mideast.
- Declare the advance of God’s freedom movement! Including the advancement of religious freedom by the Spirit of God throughout the Mideast.
Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorates the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Above all, lets continue to pray a holy resolve overtake all parties involved. NEVER AGAIN. In Jesus’ Name…
