END TIMES IN REAL TIME—be equipped for this season! https://jonandjolene.us/store/#!/ORDER-NOW-END-TIMES-IN-REAL-TIME/p/723805573
DEAR SHUTDOWN SAINTS,
GIVEN THE SEASON WE’RE IN, I thought you’d benefit greatly from Jolene’s Spirit-borne wisdom on trickery, treachery and betrayal of covenant. She touched on the subject yesterday in our Turnaround Tuesday video. The post below is taken from the chapter she wrote in End Times in Real Time.
Note that possibilities were endless when I asked her to write a chapter. To my amazement Jolene handed me a treatise on trickery, treachery and betrayal in the end times. Who even thinks in these terms?
I know. God, obviously. But that said, it is prophetic in the truest sense. And what’s really crayzee is how we experienced a measure of the very betrayal she warned about, shortly after our final draft was submitted to our very patient publisher.
It always amazes me how the Spirit of God keeps Jolene ahead of the curve. We pray this insight brings you clarity, conviction and heightened discernment.
DISCERNING TRICKERY, TREACHERY AND BETRAYAL
By Jolene—adapted from End Times in Real Time
“Tricks and treachery are the practice of fools, that don’t have brains enough to be honest.”—Benjamin Franklin.
“The treachery of demons is nothing compared to the betrayal of an angel.”—author Brenna Yovanoff, The Space Between.
“TRICK OR TREAT!” Driving through local neighborhoods during the fall, it is hard to miss the fact that Halloween is closing in on Christmas both in popularity and also the sheer magnitude of yard displays. The pleasure taken in showcasing blatant evil surrounds us everywhere you look. Even to entice the most innocent among us.
And not just because we live in Washington DC. It is everywhere across America. And frankly, here in our nation’s Capitol most political figures tied to the occult at least maintain some level of discretion, hiding their true alliances from public view.
At least until they seek to impeach, lets say, a sitting president. Even making their announcement of the pursuit intentionally on October 31. It would get even worse if they were to privately threaten said president with treachery, leveraging said president to move out of their way or face consequences. Then finishing the threat with a smile, saying “Trick or Treat.”
Most of the above story is recounted in our book White House Watchmen. A trusted congressional leader who read our book told us about the side conversation featuring the “trick or treat” threat. I have no reason to doubt this actually happened.
And it exposes a desperate need. Thank God Jolene has heard from the Lord to share keys to discern and overcome treachery and trickery. It’s a defining issue of the end times.
The Antichrist, for instance, will be known for these character qualities.
Treachery or Trickery—What’s the Difference?
Differentiating between treachery and trickery is very important. Trickery is simply employing deception to get a person to believe or take action on something that they otherwise would have discerned. In fact, deception, duplicity, guile and cunning are all synonyms.
Treachery is obviously much more debilitating than trickery. It involves intimate betrayal that takes advantage of a person’s love and trust. In many ways unrepentant acts of trickery can lead to treachery.
Trickery can be done by any one person to another, whereas treachery is generally much more intimate. The goal is not just to deceive but to intentionally destroy, generally through a betrayal of trust or covenant commitment, in order to take advantage of the person for selfish gain.
The Antichrist, for instance, is identified in the Bible as the ultimate expression of treachery:
“By his treachery he will succeed through deceit. He will have an arrogant attitude, and he will destroy many who are unaware of his schemes. He will rise up against the Prince of princes, yet he will be broken apart—but not by human agency” (Dan. 8:25 NET).
Trickery may be a careless act, while treachery is a planned deception by someone plotting your destruction while smiling in your face. In Psalm 55, King David puts it this way:
“For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me. Then I could hide from him. But it was you, a man my equal, my companion and my acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng” (Psalm 55:12-14).
Let me simplify this verse for you. We went to church together. We became friends. I looked to you for advice and direction. By every appearance you loved and served the Lord, but then your betrayal came out of nowhere. Jolene’s version!
David then brings out a key for discerning hidden treachery. Covenant-breaking is at the core of the treacherous. “He has put forth his hand against those who were at peace with him; He has broken his covenant. The words of his mouth were smooth as butter, But war was in his heart” (Psalm 55:20-21).
Rouse yourself to punish all of the nations; spare none of those who treacherously plot evil (Psalm 59-1-10)
Evil pretenders, even in churches and ministries, treacherously plot evil. They plan out evil, strategizing on ways to take advantage of God’s covenant people, and even ensnare them. We’re talking far more than just our sin nature slipping up in a weak moment. They plan the malicious evil, playing on the trust of the other in order to deceive. Intent is everything.
As we have shared, a perfect example of treachery is Judas, who walked intimately with Jesus for years. He then betrayed Him with a kiss. It was intimate betrayal at the core. The most intimate of actions.
My enemies speak evil of me: “When will he die and his name perish?’ And as he comes to see me, he speaks lies; his heart gathers iniquity to itself; when he goes out, he tells it. (Psalm 41:5).
Let’s ponder this statement for a moment. The enemy who you consider your friend is speaking evil against you. He is pondering your demise and your ultimate death. And then he is bold enough to come see and speak lies to your face. This is where the Bible begins to talk about your hardened heart. All those actions have hardened your heart to the point that the word says your heart gathers the iniquity to itself at that point.
Look out!  Because iniquity is a pattern of personal sin or generational sin which defines us, becomes a part of us. Iniquity is the darkness that lives inside of you, and this scripture says that your heart begins to gather iniquity to you. Which leads to the next level of sin which the psalm says is the direct cursing of the person by whispering against the person and devising their hurt!  They speak death and disease over their “friend!”
This ends in verse 9: Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.  Again, a direct prophecy about Judas betraying Jesus brings clarity on the intimate betrayal of the ugliest kind. And unfortunately we will see this more and more in the days ahead.
“Woe to those who devise (plan) iniquity, And work out evil on their beds! At mornings light they practice it, Because it is in the power of their hand. They covet fields and take them by violence, Also houses and seize them. So they oppress a man and his house, A man and his inheritance” (Micah 2:1).
What is the end game in all this? Heightening our discernment is vital not only to differentiate between the true and the false, but to raise up a standard against it.
Just like we have conveyed throughout this book, we are in a battle between the Spirit of God and the Spirit of the antichrist.  We must come up higher, recognize treachery as a threat, and take actions to test and discern the true from the false…
