THAT was an inspiring call last night. Thanks to all who participated–and persevered through access code issues! Many of you also emailed to affirm you are praying for us. We are so grateful!
Honestly, it’s been intense as we’ve moved forward in DC this past month. We’ve often felt an undercurrent of vexation, like bad background music. Barely noticeable but still unsettling.
I know what you’re thinking. Vexation… in Washington DC? Impossible! Yet somehow, it’s been a reality.
That said, I can literally feel the difference now in the spirit. Thank you Jesus! And again, thank you Lamplighter family. Lets keep the press!
Pray for our Friends Too!
In DC we are working with Matt Lockett, director of Bound for Life and JHOP DC, and with Jason Hershey, director of Davids Tent and W-HOP, on this project to see a shift from the culture of death to a culture of LIFE. They are both fasting these 21 days, and we are doing watches together.
In upcoming posts I want to delve into the remarkable prophetic history that has propelled us together for this push for breakthrough. But for now, please also keep Matt, Jason and their families in prayer.
Spring Forth! The Centering Focus of Psalm 132
OK. Yesterday, as a centering focus, we shared on God’s invitation to start this year off in breakthrough. We shared how breakthrough begins when we refuse to tolerate anything less than the standard God has called us to. Jesus is our “breaker.” He has called us to freedom, and through His amazing redemption He has prepared the way for our freedom.
Today I want to add a centering focus to this. For many of you, it’s time for the dream God has given–you know, the one you just cannot get away from–to break free from prison and experience a new birth of freedom. Or as Psalm 132 puts it, to have God’s covenant promise SPRING FORTH!
Honestly, you are only truly free when you have something worth giving your life for. And the greatest privilege anyone can have is to live in Christ, for a God-given dream.
What dream are you pursuing? What words give definition to this dream? Is it worth your time, your talent, your afflictions, your life?
Psalm 132 describes David’s “centering focus.” What this lovesick king lived for, and gave his life for. His pursuit of God was relentless, from the days of his youth through his wilderness afflictions and conquests, through his 33 year reign as king of Israel, he never lost focus of the true passion of his life.
Restore, Renew, Release
David set his heart to restore the ark of the covenant to his capitol city of Jerusalem. He longed to see God’s bridal canopy–a tabernacle of worship joining heaven and earth through a united expression of night and day “throne room worship!”
And by God’s grace, he built this “freedom outpost,” aligning with God’s national covenant and building a 24/7 throne to host His Presence. Covenant was restored, Presence worship was renewed, and the release of Throne room justice propelled Israel forward like no time in history.
Now that’s a new birth of freedom springing forth! And that’s one of the greatest invitations given to regions of the nation this year. Let freedom outposts spring forth! Restoring covenant, renewing worship, releasing justice.
Place for God to Dwell
Within Psalm 132, Lamplighter veterans recognize the covenantal legacy of our own nation. As you know, Jean Ribault, the Huguenot leader who sought to establish a “freedom outpost” in the new world, was martyred while chanting this psalm, begging God that this land would be a dwelling place for His glory.
God remembers the cries of His friends–even generationally! Today, lets align with this covenantal foundation. We encourage you to pray through this psalm until it becomes part of your heart and prayer language.
And lets pray for God to establish a 24/7 dwelling place for His glory–in your region, and EVEN IN OUR NATION’S CAPITOL. It’s time for the horn of David to spring forth!
Psalm 132
Remember, O Lord, on David’s behalf, all of his affliction;
How he swore to the Lord, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,
“Surely I will not enter my house, nor lie in my bed;
I will give no sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,
Until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.
Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah, we found it in the field of Jaar.
Let us go into His dwelling place; Let us worship at His footstool.
Arise, O Lord to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.
Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness,
and let Your godly ones sing for joy.
For the sake of David your servant, do not turn away the face of Your anointed.
The Lord has sworn to David a truth
from which He will not turn back:
“Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne. If your sons
will keep My covenant, and My testimony which I will teach them,
Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever.”
For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation.
“This is My resting place forever; here I will dwell,
for I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her needy
with bread. Her priests also I will clothe with salvation,
and her godly ones will sing aloud for joy.
There I will cause the horn of David to spring forth;
I have prepared a lamp for Mine anointed.
His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon himself
his crown shall shine.”
