911-watch-revised

It’s a rare morning around here. Something I thought I would never see—let alone write about publicly—is that my wife is running around defiantly singing the rock song, “We’re not gonna take it…..NO NO….we’re not gonna take it…..no we’re not gonna take it anymore!”

I’ll share why in a second.

But first, we look forward to tonight’s call. President Obama will be announcing plans for dealing with ISIS as we pray together, so the call will definitely be a “combo meal.” THANK YOU for keeping watch over our nation as we head towards 9-11! In an additional posting today, we’ll also share strategy and prayer on securing God’s protection over your spheres of authority.

Discern Liars! Refuse Their Comfort! Jolene Dream
“We’re not gonna take it!” In our 911 Watch, we are seeking to see corruption exposed in our personal lives and world in conjunction with the RPN “Stop Corruption” Prayer Project. We all want comfort, especially in these unsettling times. But even the headlines today are showing us how false comfort is a dangerous trap of the enemy—a tactic of abusers.

That said, yesterday Jolene received a very clear warning dream. Please take this to heart! She writes:

I’m sitting at a table, directly across from a woman and a man who I know have a reputation for never telling the truth. And I am very angry with their continuous lies, confronting these people vehemently. “You are lying…. you are a liar….if there is one thing I hate the most it is lying!”

The scene shifts, and people are fleeing away from the room where the confrontation just took place. Because as the lies are exposed they are actually sensing clear and present danger. To escape we have to go down a large flight of steps, and then a doorway leads into a large field. A bunch of people are running to escape.

I proceed down the steps. On the landing as I am about to also flee towards the field, a man comes up behind me and puts both his arms around me. He has me restrained—with a bear hug—while just approaching the threshold and his presence seems very comforting. The man’s face is right next to my ear and he is whispering “It will be ok, it will be all right, I will bring you to safety.”

As I melt into his comforting embrace and his pleasant words I unfortunately stop running away. I cease moving forward. Out of the corner of my eye I see all these people I know are “the enemy” begin to encircle around me. And then I recognize that this man embracing me has merely delayed my response with lies and false comfort.

At the end of the dream I confronted the man. “You did this purposefully! You were waiting until the enemy surrounded me and it was too late.” His response was simply to grin. As if to say, “Yes…and it worked.”

Beware of False Comfort!
Lets rehearse this dream. In the first part, I was at a table across from two continual liars, directly confronting their sin. The Bible is clear that “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight” (Prov. 12:22). I believe the table may represent the Table of the Lord—the Table of His justice.

When the lies were exposed, everybody in the room had the right response. They took the sin to heart and ran for safety!

In the second part of the dream, a man used lies to restrain me and pacify my resolve to run—all the while speaking words of peace and comfort. That is, until the enemy has me totally surrounded and it was too late to escape!

Friends, we need to beware of the seduction of false comfort—in every sphere of life and governance. This is a primary strategy of the enemy at this time, because a delayed response to lies could mean entrapment.

I’ve shared the warning from Jeremiah 6 many times here recently:

“For from the least of them even to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for gain, and from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely. They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace. “Were they ashamed because of the abomination they have done? They were not even ashamed at all…” (Jer. 6:13-15).

Lessons Learned
Let me close with a few key points. Corporately, God has been sharpening and maturing our discernment, both through impartation and through relentless training!

But solid food is for the mature, who BECAUSE OF PRACTICE have their senses trained to discern good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14).

This dream actually tested and exposed where we may be most vulnerable to lies—to tolerating and even believing lies. I passed a test by directly confronting continual liars. But when faced with danger, I also put my need for comfort above my own discernment. We may even be doing this as a nation.

Beware… because the person making false promises to us may really be on assignment to hold us until the enemy can surround us! It’s time we elude the traps of the abuser. Lets repent where we’ve put our comfort ahead of truth—and therefore jeopardized ourselves and others. Lets resolve afresh not to tolerate lies. But to instead respond with a relentless pursuit of the Truth!

Lets also watch where the enemy seeks to come from behind to restrain us. In this dream, he grabbed me at the threshold, the threshold of our very escape. If you are in a vulnerable position, it’s wise to keep moving through your thresholds until you reach a place of safety!

We all have blind spots, and so we all need vision beyond our own capacities to win this war. Lets discern and reject the lies of false counsel. But lets also remain connected and accountable to our God-given community of friends, testing all things and holding to what is true.

We need to rise up in this season and not take what the enemy is pushing upon us.  Not that we usually use a rock song in the expression of our warfare, but as for me and my house… we’re not gonna take it anymore 🙂
