I have to admit we are looking forward to being refreshed with a brief vacation next week. Hallelujah!
Lessons from Yad Vashem
But before our vacation comes Yad Vashem. No, we’re not traveling to Jerusalem to revisit the Holocaust Museum. Instead, many of the teaching staff of Yad Vashem are joining with students from across the nation in Washington DC for a four-day reunion, complete with follow-up teaching!
Talk about a full circle moment. When we visited Israel last November, we had two goals at heart. First was to immerse ourselves in lessons surrounding the Holocaust through the Yad Vashem classes. Second was to receive commissioning prayer from Rick Ridings and Succat Hallel for the Glory Train.
We never anticipated we would be so deeply impacted. And we never anticipated the imagery of trains would link the subject matter of each and every class.
Death trains. Carrying unsuspecting Jews, half-starved and brainwashed by Hitler’s propaganda team to believe they were actually moving towards a better future on their train journeys. Only to be plundered by Nazis of their most precious possessions and thrust into the gas chambers and ovens of Auschwitz and other death camps.
The prayers of Rick and Patti certainly propelled us forward with the Glory Train. So did the resonance of unyielding voices from a cloud of witnesses who succumbed to the most horrific evil in history. Their drawings, their empty stares, their love notes and violin notes and haunting farewell notes cannot be silenced. A covenant people betrayed by a government they so deeply trusted, even through the final journey of their lives.
America—Two Tracks Before Us
I’ve said it before and I will say it again. America must decide between two tracks in 2016. And I cannot warn strongly enough that the tracks we’re currently on, forged by open and intentional defiance of God, could usher our nation into a level of subjugation unimaginable to our forefathers, unimaginable to us.
We must learn the lesson of the Jews of Europe. The promises pushed by the forces of deceit in our hour may seem pure, hopeful or even pioneering. You’d better look deeper. And you’d better actually believe the truth your own eyes perceive, the truth the Lord Jesus Christ Himself is showing you.
God in His mercy has granted us a different track. A Glory Train. An underground turnaround, propelling us towards a risen Christ who keeps His covenant and extends the genuine freedoms our land has so long enjoyed. It’s your choice.
And if we can convey to you any lesson from our time at Yad Vashem, it’s again that we must look beyond the illusion forged by the artists of today’s propaganda. In Jesus’ own words, you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.
Very well said. I had to miss last night’s call because we were having a prayer meeting to pray for a man who is very ill. I wanted to be two places, but haven’t learned how to do that yet! I was deeply impacted by Yad Vashem and also the Holocaust Museum in the US. Wish I could have taken classes! Blessings to you both.
