DEAR PROTECTORS AND DEFENDERS,
TODAY AND TOMORROW, IRAN IS POISED TO STRIKE ISRAEL. Western powers are also being threatened, including America. Not a coincidence that now through Tuesday marks Tisha b’Av. It is entirely possible that it could mark the beginning of a global conflict, even the Ezekiel 38 war prophesied thousands of years ago.
Historically the 9th day of the Hebrew month Av has been marked by unfathomable tragedy. The first Temple was destroyed on this date. Same with the second Temple, in conjunction with a horrific slaughter by which led to the Jewish diaspora as Jerusalem fell to Rome.
The Spanish Inquisition? Same date. Not to mention the launch of crusades, expulsions from nations, countless pogroms, betrayals, and even major events surrounding the outbreak of World War II.
As most of you know, this generational cycle of tragedy began with a failure of intelligence. Early in the exodus led by Moses, God opened the window for Israel to be possessed. Twelve spies were sent out for reconnaissance. Ten spies came back warning of the giants. Joshua and Caleb carried the same report, but their eyes were focused on the harvest of the land. “And by God, these giants will become bread for us!”
Sadly Moses capitulated to the 10 spies. This decision resulted in a 40 year cycle of barrenness, circling the wilderness endlessly instead of possessing their inheritance. Further, it opened up a generational window of tragedy.
The good news is that in the end times God promises to turn Tisha b’Av. Zechariah 8:19 gives the word:
“The LORD of armies says this: ‘The fast of the fourth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth months will become joy, jubilation, and cheerful festivals for the house of Judah; so love truth and peace’ (Zech: 8:19).
We can yet see a turnaround. If X marks destruction, lets pray for God to shift the X from Israel! Remember, Israel is a time clock for the United States and the nations. So investing in prayer now for a turnaround in the Covenant Land accelerates God’s blessing back home, at a time when we so desperately need it.
