DEAR RESOLUTE FIREBRANDS,
THE “NO KINGS MOVEMENT” has spread like wildfire all across the nation. Much of what participants stand for seems rooted in the finest American traditions. Freedom demands a balance of power. Liberty and justice must be for all, or it’s neither true liberty or justice.
And America was honestly birthed out of a mandate to question authority.
So what’s the big deal?
This question can only be answered by the rest of the sentence started by “No kings.” It came as a reply from patriots and pastors to a British envoy on the Lexington battlefield, during the opening volleys of the American Revolution. The envoy was seeking to keep the 13 colonies under British rule. The patriots gave him a very abrupt reply. NO KING BUT JESUS.
Actually the full reply was “Sir, we shall have no Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus.”
“No kings” without the rest of the sentence means “no boundaries.” It looks like freedom. But it ultimately promotes rebellion, even against the Lord. Maybe that’s why so many of their stands are openly defiant of His heart, His word, and His holy law. It’s basically “woke ideology” re-packaged in a different form.
This may sound like a small thing. But in the balance is nothing less than the “spirit of America” which defines our future. Will it be Jesus-centric or anti-christ? Because only where the Spirit of the Lord is will you find true liberty.
