Trump-Netanyahu Collaboration, Mideast Peace
Thanks largely to precedent-setting decisions by President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, our Nation’s relationship with Israel has never been stronger. The entire Mideast is benefitting. Iran’s hawks relentlessly seek to destabilize Jerusalem and Israel. But remember their ultimate goal is ruling Mecca and Medina! We pray for continued success in regional collaboration countering the Iranian government’s aggression.
That said, within weeks President Trump’s “Deal of the Century” will be rolled out, possibly around the year-anniversary of the embassy move. Leaked details convey the Mideast peace plan will be out of the box. Should be interesting. Now is a good time to pray!
Border Crisis—Four Dynamics for Prayer
OK threshold watchmen! Lets now focus on the border crisis. There are four dynamics to the crisis which together form what outgoing DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen termed the border equivalent of a category 5 hurricane.
1. Humanitarian Crisis. First and most urgent priority! The sheer magnitude of migrants crossing the border has overwhelmed every aspect of mitigation and relief. Disease is rampant. Many have been trafficked. Border patrol agents are consumed with intervention on behalf of immigrants, women and children in crisis especially. This leaves less time for actually patrolling the border.
Government officials are compelling the faith community to help meet the need. That’s the primary focus of my tour tomorrow with faith leaders and top officials from Customs and Border Protection, ICE, etc.
2. Criminals Infiltrating our Border. The second dynamic is identifying and stopping the terrorists, foreign agents, cartel gangs, violent criminals and traffickers seeking to cross the border. The potential threat posed is immeasurable, affecting every aspect of our society. During my time at Homeland Security, I ran across many news articles about Hezbollah’s growing influence in cartels. Also reports on Iranian agents flying into Venezuela and disappearing into the pipeline through Central America to the US.
Beloved that was 12 years ago! Today people from Asia, Africa, the near east, Mideast, literally from across the globe are now being detained at our border. This should serve as a huge warning!
3. Divisive Politics! The ongoing war against the Trump Administration has clearly prevented bipartisan action to meet the most dire needs. Consider again Sec. Nielsen’s assessment of the border crisis as a category 5 hurricane. When Houston flooded, neither Democrat nor Republican chose partisan politics over meeting needs with aggressive action. Yet today these same politicians are politicizing the border crisis by aggressively denying the need is even there!
4. Securing Turnaround. The fourth dynamic is, very simply, securing the spiritual breakthrough which leads to securing our borders. We need God’s turnaround! This nexus of homeland security affects every other aspect of life and governance.
With porous borders, we are facing similar challenges now to the days of Gideon. Remember that borders and boundaries are first secured by covenant. Gideon was required to tear down his father’s altar to Baal and restore God’s covenant altar before the angel of the Lord could actually partner with him to secure Israel’s borders. How exactly to do this today is a good question!
Final point. Lord remember how we stood to secure Israel’s borders as President Trump decided over Purim to support Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Grant us Your covenant blessing in return! Let a window now open for turnaround on our own border, in Jesus’ name!
