Well technically Jon and I are on vacation in Virginia Beach. But the imagery the Lord is showing right now is so rich that I had to pen my thoughts and prayers while taking some much needed time off.

Jon and I just got home from the beach and I opened the news and saw the articles about the shaking in Napa Valley, and knew in my spirit that it was a prophetic picture for us. I commented to Jon that I knew it was prophetic and he responded right away about the 2 scriptures the Lord has not let me veer away from in this season. The first is Jeremiah 6, and the companion scripture we have prayed and prophesied about in this last season is Isaiah 5.

The Napa Quake is Prophetic
So as I looked at pictures of wine bottles from Napa Valley strewn everywhere from the earthquake in CA, I knew that Jesus was showing us a word picture and confirming his word of warning to us.

Isaiah 5 has one theme throughout and it is the parable of the vineyard.

”Let me sing now for my well beloved a song of my beloved concerning his vineyard.

“My well beloved had a vineyard on a very fertile hill. He dug it all around , removed its stones, and planted it with the choicest vine. And he built a tower in the middle of it and also hewed out a wine vat in it. Then he expected it to produce good grapes, but it produced only worthless ones.

“And now , O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. What more was there to do for my vineyard that I haven’t done in it? Why when I expected it to produce good grapes did it produce worthless ones?”

What More Could He Do?
Well it does not take much imagination to understand that The Lord is speaking this very scripture over America during this season. It could read something like this. Judge between me and my America, what more could I have done for her that I haven’t done. I have given her land and produce and abundance like no other country, I have protected and defended her and expected her to bring forth good fruit but I have not found any. What more could I have done for her that I have not done?

You be the judge… isn’t God amazing he tells us to lay out all the evidence and you be the judge.  He is that confident that we will be able to weigh out the goodness of God and come to only one conclusion he has been very good to us and we are giving him back bad fruit in return.

Isaiah 5: Our Verdict?
So what choice does God have—is the time for judgment now here? He says to us here is all the evidence you be the judge.  There is only one conclusion that we together must come to.

“So now let me tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard.  I will remove its hedge and it will be consumed; I will break down it’s wall (borders) and it will become trampled ground.I will lay it waste: It will not be be pruned or hoed, but briars and thorns will come up.

“Thus He looked for justice, but behold bloodshed: For righteousness, but behold, a cry of distress.

“Woe to those who rise up early to pursue strong drink, who stay up late in the evening that wine may inflame them! Their banquets are accompanied by lyre and harp, by tambourine and flute, and by wine. BUT they do pay attention to the deeds of the LORD, nor do they consider the works of his hands…”

Warning! Greed and Excessiveness
The entire chapter gives reasons for His response to us. Let me just name a few— greed and excessiveness, disregard for the Lord and his ways, pursuing sin with a vengeance and rejecting and despising His laws and his ways.

Have we not been in open defiance of God—even in our governance? Have we not been openly rejecting His heart, His word, His ordinances? And yet all the while we claim His blessings as our own accomplishments.

This vineyard of America is God’s by covenant. Many of us are aware that the Lord is not happy with America and our current ways. But have we stopped to ask Him exactly what are we being judged over?

Of course, there are the usual answers of abortion, sexual sin, lawlessness, the seemingly intentional and rapid removal of all things God from our land. But Isaiah 5 emphasizes a major root of all the rest. Isaiah conveys the repeated answer of enslaving others to keep adding more excess to our lives.  This parable reads like a country song….more wine, more women and more song, and we still don’t have enough.

Outpouring—the Best of the Vineyard
Regarding the earthquake, another obvious point is that it was a 6.0 magnitude quake. With the number 6 being the representation of man and his ways. The Lord is saying something very strong here. He is shaking man’s ways and saving the best wine for last. The wine of the Holy Spirit.

Jon had a prophetic experience years ago where The Lord said He is saving the best wine for last, just like at the wedding of Cana. As He shakes the ways of man He is making room for the wine of the Holy Spirit and the ways of the Holy Spirit. It is the very best of the vineyard.

So when I see Napa valley shaking I can’t help but believe that the Lord is confirming Jon’s word. Even in God’s warnings now He is still tending His vineyard, directing us to be humble and turn, inviting us to return to His ways. What more could He do for his vineyard….what more could He do for America?

Everyone is preparing for the “big one” in California. America, maybe we need to do the same.
