HOLY DEFIANCE—COUNTERING THE WAVE OF VIOLENCE

“O that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people” (Jeremiah 9:1).

It’s only appropriate here that rain is pouring down. We awoke in Jerusalem this morning to profound grief. Jolene and I join with the Lamplighter family and intercessors across the nation in mourning for the victims of the terrorist strike in San Bernardino, California, and praying for survivors and the families of those whose lives were robbed from them.

Urban assault tactics were employed yesterday by two shooters to strike an office Christmas party at a center for the disabled. It defies imagination that I’m even writing these words. According to news reports, at least one of the attackers was a devout Muslim who apparently became radicalized. He was an employee of the facility.

Jerusalem. Paris. Now San Bernardino.

Warning—Wave of Violence
Lamplighter family, we together have been warning and praying fervently against such attacks since mid-July. A day before the Iran nuclear accords were announced, a disturbing dream conveyed a tsunami wave crashing in on Washington DC. The ocean wave crested above a large cliff, representing our walls of defense. Details of the dream also highlighted September 11, 2015 as a demarcation of this season.

And on September 11, a wave of violence began on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount which has continued until this time. Just while we’ve been here, an IDF soldier was stabbed at the Damascus Gate, cars plowed into IDF soldiers in the West Bank, and many more attacks have been thwarted.

In the midst of these rumblings of a Third Intifada, Paris was horrifically struck by gunmen. And now San Bernardino.

From Jerusalem, where we attending a seminar at Yad Vashem, the Jewish Holocaust Museum, we are only beginning to grasp the warning God is conveying to us all. This journey we’ve all been on has been so unexpected. But a somber question looms. Is God warning us that the atrocities of the Holocaust could be repeated in our hour? For sure that’s the intention of our supernatural enemy. Our only prayer and resolve—never again.

It is certainly time for vigilance in prayer. This wave must cease.

Holy Defiance—Embrace Resolve, Refuse Hatred
My own immediate response was reactionary prayer. But I submit to you that before engaging in declarations etc, Holy Spirit is clearly conveying that we should follow the example of Jeremiah. Lets try tears—a flood of tears to counter the full wave of violence the enemy seeks to unleash.

As we humble ourselves before the Lord and hear His heart, I guarantee you will be empowered to pray with the harnessed authority that comes from a genuine Throne Room encounter.

And remember, we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in the spiritual realm (Eph. 6). Embrace resolve, but refuse hatred. We’ve written all week about holy defiance, so lets keep our resolve holy. Because your Throne Room intercession is way too vital to be tainted or fueled by hatred.

Watchman Prayer
That said, from Washington to Washington lets plan to continue watchman prayer through the holidays especially. Pray for all copycat attacks to be exposed and thwarted before any further strikes occur. Pray for President Obama, for Homeland Security and our intelligence communities, our law enforcement agents, and our leaders from state to state.

Pray for America, pray for Europe, and please continue to pray for Israel. Because this wave truly needs to be abated—from Zion to the nations.
