DEAR WATCHMEN OF THE NEW,
It’s almost time to light our lamps! As we enter into Hanukkah and the Christmas season, lets regain our focus. You don’t have to be a prophet to discern that many of our seasonal traditions have been tainted by commercialism. I am more appreciative than ever that Jesus was born born in a manger, not a mall. Probably because mall traffic is always so bad now. No parking spaces for either wandering shepherds or the remnant of wise men!
But the holidays, or holy days, were named for a really good reason. They were borne out of genuine experiences with God. And the greatest gift the Lord is offering each of us right now is this very same opportunity. By the Spirit I want to prophesy to you… we are entering into a season of encounter!
Keeping Watch for Visitation
I am of the conviction that the Spirit of Christmas is actually Hanukkah’s flame. Why? Most likely Jesus was born over the Fall feasts. Which means that he was not born over Hanukkah, He was actually conceived over Hanukkah.
This is really important. Because it means that Hanukkah has been ordained as a time of visitation. His lamp will be lit again!
Remember the words of the angel of the Lord to Mary or Miriam when he visited her in Nazareth. “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you…” (Luke 1). From that point forward, Miriam kept watch for her visitation. It finally came during Hanukkah.
The Lord is moving in similar fashion once again. Obviously we are not talking about conceiving a child in the natural. But Holy Spirit is about to brood over the face of the deep. And we are about to shout with Him, LET THERE BE LIGHT!
Follow the Steps of the Shepherds
Lets return to the Christmas story. In Bethlehem, a few shepherds on a barren hill kept watch in the midnight hours when Christ was born. They experienced an angelic invasion of GLORY! Their encounter led them to discover Jesus, hidden away with mom and His earthly dad in a nearby cave. Heaven’s song was still resounding. GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST!
In a similar way, we are being called to keep watch with the Lord over this season. And like the shepherds, we too will be led into a genuine experience with Jesus. One that redirects our pathway into His new movement in the earth. Not by might nor power but by My Spirit says the Lord!
As an aside, that’s why Jolene and I feel to structure Revolution differently from a regular conference. The platform belongs to Jesus. Our schedule is purposefully flexible. And we have resolved to flow with the Spirit instead of quenching Him. Because we too are longing for so much more than what a conference alone provides. We want an experience with God!
I am also acutely aware that, when Jesus was born, no social media alerted the masses that the greatest encounter humanity would ever be offered was now available. Instead, the witnesses of His sacred birth were drawn by God Himself. A few wise men followed their tracks. But all had to be alerted by an encounter with God to even understand the importance of their invitation.
As far as I can see, the only thing that differentiated these shepherds and wise men from the multitudes is that they were both keeping watch. Friends, that is what we are today. Those faithful in their watch are being rewarded with a summons to the new. FOLLOW THE STEPS OF THE SHEPHERDS!
A Remnant Shall Return
Recently we asked our friend Lynnie Harlow to pray for Revolution, and the Lord gave her a word. There was such great delight in her voice. She couldn’t wait to share the great news she had just heard.
It went something like this. “God keeps speaking to me about the remnant. The Lord is drawing a remnant for Revolution this year!”
Jolene immediately remarked, “Lynnie you know the Remnant Band is leading Revolution this year. Is that what you mean?” Without missing a beat, she said, “See, that proves my point!” She then said, “It will only be a remnant but through the remnant all you need will come.”
I kind of gasped. With the magnitude of what the Lord seems to be conveying, I figured thousands would want to come. I was actually trying to figure how we could expand beyond 300 seats to handle the crowds.
But it was a Gideon group, a remnant, Lynnie was prophesying. She went on to share some more about this remnant movement which is more personal in nature. She then closed out her word by describing how the Lord flashed to her a vision of Isaiah 10:21 as He spoke. It’s a sobering picture. But in the midst of judgement, “A remnant shall return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God!”
This about sums up the greatest need for Washington DC right now. To conquer our extraordinary challenges it’s time for turnaround, for a return, for teshuvah. Only a remnant is needed. A remnant who is keeping watch!
So in this River of Fire prayer watch, please choose to be like the shepherds, the wise men, and even like Daniel in his exhaustion. Keep watch! See how He rewards you and leads you to His Bethlehem stable in this hour. It might be the Revolution gathering, it might be a hundred other places where He is about to visit. Make every effort to be counted among His remnant.
Because a new movement is about to be commissioned. And we have now entered into a season of encounter with the Lord.
