World war watch… and I mean it.”

At these words from the Lord, Jolene and I cancelled our traveling plans for the summer and followed God’s leading to remain and pray in Washington DC.

Last Sunday, the Jewish season of mourning known as Dire Straits culminated with Tisha b’Av. However, the Holy Spirit spoke to me in April to watch between May 8 and August 5. He then spoke to Jolene about September 1-22. That something is coming that will affect every household in America.

Flashpoint: Iran and Israel
Is an Israeli attack on Iran imminent? Today, the former head of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad declared, “If I were an Iranian I would be very fearful of the next 12 weeks.” This is a day after Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta met with Israeli leadership.

Prime Minister Netanyahu warned Panetta that diplomacy and economic sanctions against Iran “have yet to move its nuclear program even a millimeter backwards” and that time is running out to halt their ability to produce a bomb.

Meanwhile, in a speech published Thursday, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad declared that “the ultimate goal of world forces must be the annihilation of Israel.”

Flashpoint: Syria
In Syria, Kofi Annan just resigned as the UN peace envoy. For months, the former UN Secretary General labored to broker a diplomatic solution to the tyranny and violence that has overtaken the nation.

According to CNN, “Annan’s departure reflects the utter failure of world diplomacy and Syrian leaders to end the fighting, in which opposition groups say more than 20,000 people have died, thousands have been imprisoned by the regime and tens of thousands have been displaced from their homes.”

Flashpoint: Europe and America
In Spain, authorities captured three suspected al Qaeda members with explosives intended for a strike on European soil.

A major concern of US intelligence agencies is the potential for backlash within our own nation should Iran be engaged in a strike.

Former CIA operative Reza Kahlili wrote an article on this subject in February for the Daily Caller. “The leaders of the Islamic regime have long prepared for a confrontation with the United States,” according to Kahlili. “Now…the Iranians are making it clear to America that U.S. military bases around the world and sites inside the U.S. will be attacked if Iranian nuclear facilities are attacked.”

According to Kahlili, “Director of National Intelligence James Clapper recently told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence about his concerns of Iran’s willingness to attack the United States in response to any confrontation.”

Prayer Points
On a personal note, Jolene and I have certainly sensed an increase in spiritual intensity over the past few days. Praying through has been hard. Please pray for us as we keep watch here!

In fact, lets resolve now to keep vigilance in prayer especially when our prayer project ends this Sunday. I feel like we’ve covered a transitional period of training. We have come to embrace the watchman’s call as a lifestyle. As with Joshua, Caleb and Gideon, we have been empowered not just to stand our ground, but to take ground, in Jesus’ Name!

That said, beloved, keep your watch! Pray that the Lord expose Iranian and Hezbollah terrorist cells, and neutralize their threat.

And please continue to pray for President Obama, House and Senate leaders, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Pentagon leaders, and our intelligence agencies. Most assuredly, hard decisions are now being made.

“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one” (2 Thess. 3:1-4).
