Pentagon City, 9-11-12. On the 11th anniversary of 9-11, Jolene and I felt to convene a last-minute roundtable and prayer meeting to intercede for our nation. Previously on June 24, God had given Jolene clear prophetic warnings about this time period. As September 11 again drew near, the sense of urgency became palpable.

At a perch overlooking the Pentagon, key leaders spent a few hours in fervent intercession and sharing prophetic impressions. We felt strongly led by Holy Spirit to pray for our intelligence community and military leaders, asking for God’s intervention and a “watchman anointing” to protect our land.

Benghazi Libya, 9-11-12. On the 11th anniversary of 9-11, Al Queda terrorists struck the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Ambassador Christopher Stevens was killed, along with several American security forces and CIA operatives. Urgent calls for backup were impaired. A heroic standoff in the face of overwhelming resistance gave way as mortar fire took out a CIA substation.

Washington DC, 9-12-12. President Obama and administration officials conveyed to the American public that the consulate attack was sparked by an American video with anti-Islamic themes. A spontaneous flash mob turned violent, and Ambassador Stevens was tragically killed. This version of the story was carried through by Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and UN Ambassador Susan Rice, among others.

Washington DC, 1-15-14. A bipartisan panel from the Senate Intelligence Committee shared its findings this Wednesday regarding Benghazi. Top on the list—within moments of the Benghazi attack, our guys had clearly communicated that seasoned Islamist terrorists were behind the coordinated strike on the compound. Unfolding events were communicated in real-time to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who then journeyed to the White House to report directly to the President.

The report made clear that previous warnings about the security of the consulate were not acted upon. The watchmen’s warnings went unheeded.

Further, the report clearly indicates that the Obama administration intentionally misled the American people to believe that Benghazi was not organized terrorist attack by Islamist jihadists. This on the eleventh anniversary of the 9-11 attack against the Pentagon and the World Trade Center by the same group. In the final push of the election year, President Obama continued with plans for a fundraiser in Las Vegas while the fabricated story was broadcast to the world.

God’s Verdict: Exposure of Falsehood
President Obama won the election. However, the year 2013 proved to be a turning point of historic proportions for the exposure of falsehood in government. And in 2014, God’s light will continue to shine and expose.

A year ago at this time, Holy Spirit began to emphasize to us a passage in Isaiah 28 that decrees exposure of governmental cover-ups and corruption. It’s important to note that many prophets and leaders from many streams were receiving similar impressions. Jolene and I felt from the Lord that this exposure would be painful but necessary for America to return to righteousness. As Abraham Lincoln articulated, “That this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth.”

The Lord gave us Isaiah 28 as His verdict to decree on the 40th anniversary of Roe v Wade (see the “Life Decree” on our website):

“Therefore hear the word of the Lord o scoffers, WHO RULE THIS PEOPLE who are in Jerusalem (the capital city). Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have made a pact, the overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passes by. For we have made FALSEHOOD our refuge and we have CONCEALED OURSELVES with deception.’

“Therefore thus says the Lord God, behold I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed.

“And I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the level then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies and the waters will overflow the secret place.

“YOUR COVENANT WITH DEATH WILL BE CANCELLED, AND YOUR PACT WITH SHEOL WILL NOT STAND. And when the overwhelming scourge passes through, then you will become its trampling place” (Is 28:14-18).

Extraordinary Exposure
Early in 2013, cover-up of Benghazi began to be exposed, culminating in the Senate Intelligence Committee report presented on Wednesday. On the heels of initial Benghazi hearings, another major coverup came to light—the intentional targeting of conservative and evangelical groups by the IRS.

This made a few headlines, but the broader national press still seemed relatively passive in pursuing the stories that were unfolding before their eyes. That is, until the fourth estate itself was assaulted. The Associated Press reported how Justice Department had taken the unprecedented step of confiscating the names of sources as well as story leads and files. Within their own Washington, DC bureau!

That’s when the sleeping lion roared to life. Led by veteran Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, alleged suppression of journalists by the administration began to be confronted and exposed. And headlines from both liberal and conservative media trumpeted alleged indiscretions regarding Benghazi etc.

Then came Edward Snowden. The president who once declared that warrantless espionage against American citizens must cease was suddenly confronted with a quagmire of epic proportions. The depth of invasiveness into the private lives of Americans, as well as heads of states across the world, was almost unimaginable.

Obamacare and Breakthroughs on Abortion
In the fall Obamacare was rolled out, against the backdrop of the widely unpopular government shutdown. Once again, headlines became consumed with the disastrous launch.

Early in his administration, President Obama met with Republican leaders to try and secure the final votes needed to pass Obamacare. He made a promise to them that government funded abortions would not be part of the bill. Instead, in the end the bill provided for the largest expansion of government-funded abortions in our nation’s history.

God takes promises seriously—even if politicians do not. And in the end, He will not be mocked. “Because you have said, we have made a covenant with death… we have made falsehood our refuge, and concealed ourselves with deception… Your covenant with death shall be annulled…”

I don’t think it is any coincidence that in the very year Obamacare was rolled out, the Lord Himself oversaw the greatest breakthroughs seen regarding abortion since Roe v Wade became law. A total of 87 surgical clinics shut down. And 22 states—almost half the nation—enacted laws redefining their legislation on abortion.

Newport VT, 6-24-11. Let me close by sharing Jolene’s initial encounter that started us praying for September 11, 2012. On a ministry trip, she awoke to Holy Spirit thundering to her, “World War Watch… and I mean it!” The Lord then quickened to her that “Between September 1-22, something is coming that will affect every household in America.”

We did not know what that “something” was, just that it had to do with watching to prevent a global outbreak of war. We prayed through the summer. And we posted what we were receiving from the Lord, bringing a multitude across the nation into intercession for this time period. 

I firmly believe that national intercession, mobilized from Washington DC, helped pave the way through all the warfare and subdue an even greater crisis. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the brave Americans who sacrificed their lives in Benghazi. They have set a precedent. And we can best honor their legacy by learning from their legacy. 

Three aspects of their legacy come to mind. First, lets devote ourselves in Jesus Christ to pursuing truth and keeping our promises. Second, lets learn to watch and contend with all vigilance, holding our positions even if it’s costly. And third, in the spirit and the natural, we must learn to hear and heed the watchmen’s warning.
